Lies of P is shaping up to be a very intriguing Soulslike title, but there's simply no getting away from the fact that it looks a hell of a lot like Bloodborne. Not necessarily a bad thing, of course — why wouldn't you take inspiration from one of the best? — but the similarities in gameplay flow, environmental design, and even the user interface are abundantly clear in this new gameplay demonstration.
Indeed, there's 12 minutes of unedited footage for you to gawk at here, and again, it does look pretty good. The mechanical angle of the whole thing is certainly unique, and we can't wait to see just how creepy the enemies get.

I dont understand the constant want for a Bloodborne remaster. That game needs a remaster even less than TLOU. Move on and play one of the hundreds of games that release yearly.
As for Lies of P it looks excellent. Its honestly one of my most anticipated NEW games coming out.
No kidding.., i mean animations, sound effects, look of character, and of environment, like a standalone expansion of bb.
But could be cool of course.
Looks interesting, but I'm not 100% sold. It's coming to gamepass day one so IF I try it, at least I already have access to it.
If it came to this or playing bloodborne again. I'd choose bloodborne for sure.
Omg, the player was terrible lol...Game looks Awesome though..
@Ken_Kaniff Mmmm not really. TLOU pushback is partly because we already had a remaster for that game.
Bloodborne is a modern classic, and the main contention is that we're stuck playing it at barely 30fps with herky jerky frame pace issues. It's not that we need a full-blown remake at £70 or anything, just a remaster that fixes these issues.
@Ken_Kaniff because we need 60 fps
This game does look like bb... but nearly as sexy
Graphically this looks really dated, it would be absurd if this didnt run at 60.
However, Im always down for games with some level of difficulty, i just hope someone expands the souls formula rather than continues to copy it and carry over its shortcomings in controls, UI, and nonexistent "lore based" storytelling (cheap way to cut development time and costs)!
Did anyone here actually give Thymesia a try???? How was it?
They are wearing their inspiration on their sleeves but when it looks this good who can blame them? I love how everything looks and animates so...mechanical thanks to the whole Pinocchio inspiration thing. I'm very impressed and highly looking forward to this hopefully next year!
I mean the BB comparisons are fair, it looks cool but there is an air of "the developers took a big piece of tracing paper to BB" about it.
@Kairu I think it looks suuuuper similar but that doesn't discourage me from wanting to play it, it looks great
Your Pulse Perished
🤣🤣🤣
@Ken_Kaniff I just want a 60 FPS patch.
Cant wait for this game.its gonna be a instant classic.word up son
It looks awful! (nose grows)
I have issues with games that look very dark.
Similar? It looks like downright plagiarism from Bloodborne LOL I wouldn't be surprised if From took them to court over it.
Yeah, this look like Kirkland brand Bloodborne alright, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It'll be interesting to see how it actually feels to play though. I know that they're going for a mechanical motif, but all of the animations look janky as a result.
Most exciting part of Gamescom IMO!
Fromsoft is good at nailing "show, don't tell" when it comes to huge parts of their lore. Where a lot of inspired souls-likes go wrong imo is in attempting to replicate the combat but not nailing the environmental story telling and atmosphere. Hoping this one manages that or at least puts on a stamp on its own narrative identity.
Brilliant name!
At least, when you pronounce P as Pie
Setting wise : the only parts that strongly resemble Bloodborne are the 2 scenes shown in the opening of the Official Gameplay Reveal Trailer, between 00:15 and 00:20.
The rest of it is more set in the later part of the Victorian era, closer to recent times, as opposed to the Gothic setting with Victorian influences, like BB... the industrialization says it all, factories, machines, trains etc as opposed to rock+wood structures, horse carriages, axes, pitchforks, cathedrals and castles etc... there are lifts in BB, and some pipes sticking out of the walls here and there (in Charnel Lane for example) but that's as far is it goes with the machines and the industry.
Gameplay wise : there not much of Bloodborne in it either.
There is a gun-like weapon you can transform your prosthetics in, but that's about it.
The swiftness, light on your feet, fast quickstepping around the enemies is sorely missing.
The sidestep itself has a short distance, and it a wee be slow for my taste... I bet in-game it'll not be as effective at avoiding taking damage as it's counterpart from BB is.
And rolling is so slow, it's like you have a heavy armor on you...
And like any other Bloodborne wannabe, it's missing the health rally - one of the biggest features Bloodborne brought to the genre, that makes it stand out among it's peers. And that each and every copycat ignores. Without it, this is just another Souls like.
Oh and the enemies are all robotic puppets... aside from the plagued granny in the beginning of the Official Gameplay Reveal Trailer, there are no infested humans around... and no beasts to even speak of.
What is has going for it related to Bloodborne : there are some bits here and there that can get you to fantasize about what would a Bloodborne prequel look like, right at the beginning of it all...
When the Byrgenwerth explorations of the labyrinths started, the "old blood" of the Great Ones was discovered, the experiments they made, the start of the beast plague, the healing church and the blood ministrations, the beginning of the hunters and the beast hunting etc.
Now THAT is a game I'd like to play! If it was made by From or Bluepoint of course...
A well made live action series would work too, if one will ever get done.
To me at least, judging solely from what was shown in the available trailers, Lies of P seems to be just another 6 or 7 rated souls-like game.
Hopefully it's not the same because I'm not a Bloodborne fan at all.
I’m ready to tell some lies.
@JB_Whiting @Cutmastavictory @brazzios_84 I understand where yall are coming from. I think they just need to patch the games FPS and not a full blown remaster like I see so many people asking for.
@PhhhCough I've a couple of perished pulses out in the garden
@Ken_Kaniff I think you're referring to remake. Remasters are mainly just a resolution and fps bump. As for BB, I don't even need a res bump, just give me 60 fps, lol.
Yay, we finally get a Timothy Chalamet Simulator!
They certainly didn't hide their influence here
Gameplay looks nice from what I was able to skim thru, definitely interested!
@Ken_Kaniff
Can't fathom the comparison to the TLOU in the context you're using.
It is objectively less polished that TLOU PS4 version and just about every other AAA PlayStation Great.
